⚠️ Please note, that Deadbeef build for Mac is not code-signed, and therefore Gatekeeper will not allow it to run by default.

Here’s how you can bypass Gatekeeper.

These steps need to be repeated after each re-download of Deadbeef. Choose the option which suits you best.

macOS Sequoia and Tahoe UI
  • Double click Deadbeef icon, then dismiss the dialog (Press Done button)
  • Open “Privacy & Security” pane in System Preferences
  • Scroll down to the very bottom
  • There will be a prompt about Deadbeef with Open Anyway button
  • Press it, confirm to open the app anyway, and confirm with your password.
Any macOS version using command line:
  • xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/DeaDBeeF.app
Older macOS / before Sequoia UI:
  • Open Privacy & Security in System Settings, and scroll down to the bottom.
  • Allow running applications from Unidentifier Developers.
  • Right click Deadbeef icon, click “Open” in the menu.
  • The next dialog will tell you the application cannot be run – press Cancel.
  • Repeat the same step – Right click, then click Open in the menu.
  • Now the app will run normally.
